Is it okay to ingest capsules from a bottle i unsealed a year ago, which has an expiration date in year 2010?

I have a bottle of multivitamin capsules which when i bought were sealed. I used about 1/4 of the bottle and then had to move house and put them away somewhere i couldn't find. I came across them a week ago and have been contemplating using them, as i don't want to waste them and they expire in January 2010. I don't know if that is safe though? Can anyone with knowledge on the matter please advise.
